Umaru Sanda Amadu, a seasoned Ghanaian journalist who works for Citi TV/FM in Accra, has saved a girl’s career prospects and given her great hope for the future.
According to Sanda’s LinkedIn profile, it all started three years ago when he learned about the plan to marry the girl off and intervened to stop the process so she could continue her education.
The journalist was successful thanks to the assistance of the former Headmistress of his village school, the Doryumu Police, the Social Welfare Office at Dodowa, and the team at the Kinder Paradise home in Prampram.
Sadia, a 16-year-old girl, wrote and passed the BECE, finishing second in her school.
During a brief ceremony, the 16-year-old, who wishes to continue her education at Tema Senior High School, was returned to her family, who promised to keep her in school.
