Young man dїes after trying to retrieve 300ghc from an abandoned well

A young man has lost his life after reportedly falling into an abandoned well when he tries to retrieve his mother’s 300ghc that has fallen in it.

The awful catastrophe took place in Meduma, a hamlet in Ghana’s Ashanti Region’s Kwabere East District.

The 22-year-old slid down the abandoned well after his mother tossed 300ghc down it while disposing of rubbish.

Residents claim the dry well has become a trap since it was abandoned due to its inability to deliver water.

Bright Owoahene Acheampong, nicknamed Akwasi Broni, shouted for help at the top of his voice as soon as he fell into the well.

After hearing her son’s calls for help, neighbors were called to the site. A nearby resident who attempted to save him also got stuck in the well.

A couple of residents called the National Fire Service because things were getting out of hand.

The two other victims were saved by officers from the Mampongteng police station, but Akwasi Broni was unable to be saved.

Shortly after the two of them got to the hospital, Akwasi Broni was proclaimed dead.

According to investigations, the mother of the deceased asked him to avoid the abandoned well before attempting to reclaim the 300ghc, but he ignored her.

Following the incident, residents are now calling for the well to be closed up.
