Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has issued a straightforward warning to those rulers who are attempting to impose themselves on others. In a new video, the Asantehene conveyed a strong message to rulers in the Bono East and Ahafo areas in which he charged them to humble themselves. For a long time, the Dormaahene, Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has been vocal in his challenge to kings and politicians to do more to enhance their territory.
The Asantehene, it appears, has heard some of those comments and has answered. His statement was primarily in reaction to certain comments claiming that the Dormaa state was independent of any other kingdom and that it was a free nation. Otumfuo warned anyone who dared to defy him. He stated that he cannot compel anybody, but no one should attempt to challenge him.
“Just because there are new territories doesn’t mean you’re free. You continue to serve the Golden Stool. Before becoming Dormaahene, Agyemang Badu worked as a teacher at Government Boys School. You continue to serve the Sika Dwa. Nobody has the power to change history. This will not occur during my tenure. What is all this boasting and raving about? I am a man, and I have the ability to speak harshly.” Asantehene said.
The Asantehene stated that any chiefs who are being abused by others will soon hear his decision. He clarified that such areas are still under his control and that nothing will change that. He also stated that he will shortly reconstitute the Asante Standing Committee and appoint a delegate from the states (Bono East and Ahafo) that fall under his jurisdiction. He vowed to work hard to keep the peace. He stated that he will not go about insulting individuals, but rather reply maturely to them.
The Asantehene vowed to promote numerous chiefs from Bono East’s minor towns. He sent a quiet caution to those in Bono who dared him, insisting that they humble themselves since power does not belong to them.
