Why Popular Gospel Singer, Esther Smith is trending on social media
Ghanaian music fans have taken to Twitter to applaud veteran gospel singer Esther Smith’s exceptional songwriting abilities.
Tweeps say she has been missed in the music scene after her long break, owing to her melodious voice and spirit-filled song ministration. She hasn’t released a song in nearly a decade.
On April 10, Esther Smith topped Twitter trends after broadcaster Serwaa Amihere asked followers to name their favorite gospel singer of all time.
It was no surprise that the ‘Som No Yie’ crooner’s name was first on the list of gospel singers.
A Twitter user, @@zongo banku, attested to the impact of Esther songs, writing: “Every morning before he leaves for work, my senior brother, who is Muslim, listens to Esther Smith songs. That’s how far her songs spread; even non-Christians appreciated her lyrics.”
In response to Serwaa’s tweet, @Newman Shedi wrote, “Esther Smith… we want her back.”
Another user, @wizkay gh, referred to her as the GOAT, which translates as the “Greatest of All Time.”
“Esther Smith is overjoyed because her flowers are arriving today. She’s the GOAT “The tweet stated.
Som No Yie, We Give Thanks, Mo, Adze Kor, Born To Worship, Kura Wo Gyedie Mu, and Menko are among her most popular songs.
