A 45-year-old married man with four children has spoken out about what led him to live as a woman.
Samuel Minani, alias Baby, from Burundi, claims he began dressing and speaking in female fashion 25 years ago.
“I was not born this way. I changed slowly.”
According to Baby, he made the decision to start wearing women’s clothing during the country’s civil war because gangs were targeting men, and it saved his life.
“I heard a voice from the heart telling me to dress up like a woman. Then, one day, the perpetrators knocked on my door, looking for the man of the house.
But I told them only women lived there, and when they searched the house, they did not find the man and left.”
Following the incident, Baby decided to live as a woman, which perplexed the other men.
“Previously, fellow men would fall in love with me, but most people now know I am not a woman,” he said.
Baby’s wife expresses herself
While claiming that they are not lesbians, Baby’s wife, Irambona Denyse, stated that despite living like a woman, he fully satisfies her needs, including conjugal rights.
“That is why we have a big family.”
Denyse stated that they fell in love and began living together before he changed and that they now share a wardrobe.
“We all wear the same clothes- no one has their clothes. Everyone wears whatever they want.”
She also stated that she feels comfortable walking with him in public, including to church.
When asked how he feels about his gender, Baby responded:
“Physically, I’m a man, but mentally I am a woman.”
Baby stated that he was initially chastised, but that his neighbors grew accustomed to seeing him dressed as a woman.
Even at work and when he went out to have fun with his friends in his spare time, he appeared to be a very lively person.
