Vice president Bawmia confirms the death of his mother and announces her burial date
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, has confirmed the death of his mother, Hajia Mariama Bawumia, who passed away in Accra on September 13, 2021.
According to a Facebook post on his official handle, the 81-year-old died peacefully in her sleep and will be buried in Walewale, in the North East Region, on September 14, 2021, in accordance with Islamic tradition.

The demise of my dear mother, Hajia Mariama Bawumia, is something I have to share with you all with tremendous sadness. ” The vice president wrote
She passed away quietly this morning in Accra, according to her family members. Arrangements for burial are set to take place at Walewale tomorrow, on September 14, 2021. May the Almighty Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus (the blessing of the Almighty Allah).
Kpasenkpe in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region is home to Hajia Mariama, who was born and raised there.
She was one of the first female students from the Northern Region to be accepted into the famous Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast, which is located in the Central Region.
