Tyrone Marghuy arrives for his first day at Achimota (photos)
Tyrone Iras Marghuy reported to Achimota SHS for the first time today.
Marghuy returned to school after a High Court judgement requiring Achimota to allow him with his dreadlocks intact.
Marghuy and another Rastafarian student, Oheneba Nkrabea, had previously been denied admission to the institution.
The school refused to grant them a religious exemption and told them that if they wanted to attend, they needed to shave their heads.
The fathers of the two boys took the case to court, and the judge ruled in their favor.
The court ruled that the children’s fundamental rights could not be denied.
Oheneba Nkrabea returned to school on Thursday, June 3rd, following the judgment, and Marghuy did the same today.
