Takoradi woman still in jail after failing to meet her bail terms
Josephine Panyin Mensah is still being held in police custody despite having been granted bail earlier this year. She was arraigned before the Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A in the Western Region on Monday, September 27, 2021.
The court, presided over by His Honour Michael Cudjoe Ampadu, granted bail to the accused (the woman at the center of the alleged fake kidnapping and pregnancy case) in the sum of GHS50,000 with two sureties, and ordered her to appear in court again on March 14.
While trying to meet bail requirements, the suspect has not been successful and is currently being held in police custody.
She was charged with misleading a public officer as well as spreading fear and terror in the community. She, on the other hand, has pled not guilty to the charges against her.
Despite the fact that the authorities claimed she had admitted to fabricating the kidnapping and the pregnancy, she has maintained her innocence.
Meanwhile, Philip Fiifi Buckman, the lead attorney for the accused, has stated that the family is working hard to comply with the bail requirements. Meanwhile, the matter has been postponed until October 14, 2021, when it will be heard again.
