Former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Abena Dapaah has been arrested by the office of the Special Prosecutor for suspected corruption and corruption-related offences.
Former minister Mrs Dapaah has been arrested following her resignation amidst shocking revelations. It has been uncovered that she had stored a substantial amount of cash in her bedroom, a portion of which was stolen by two of her house helpers.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, issued a press release on July 24, 2023, stating that Mrs Dapaah is currently being questioned by his team regarding the stolen cash and other valuable items.
Court records indicate that Mrs Dapaah had previously filed a lawsuit against her domestic helpers, accusing them of taking $1 million, $300,000, millions of Cedis, and various pieces of jewelry. The investigation is ongoing.
