See the reasons why R.Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison

After being convicted in his sex trafficking trial, R. Kelly was given a 30-year prison term.

After repeated delays, the disgraced R&B artist finally showed up in court today, June 29, in New York. He might have received a term of up to life in prison, with a minimum of 10 years.

Kelly utilized his “minions,” according to Judge Ann Donnelly, to “lure young fans into your orbit.”

Seven women were introduced to provide victim impact statements in an anonymous manner.

One of the women, going under the alias Angela, testified in court as follows:

“With every addition of a new victim you grew in wickedness, cockiness, diminishing any form of humanity or self-awareness, which soon became the breeding ground for your God-like complex.

“We reclaim our names from beneath the shadows of your afflicted trauma.”

Another told Kelly: “You are an abuser, you are shameless, you are disgusting.”

R. Kelly, real name Robert Sylvester Kelly, finally went on trial last year after years of rumors and claims of sexual misconduct with youngsters.

On September 27, 2021, Brooklyn Federal Court jury found him guilty of nine sex crimes, including racketeering and sex trafficking, notwithstanding his plea of not guilty.

To preserve their privacy and safety, a number of the singer’s accusers, who claimed that he subjected them to deviant and sadistic behaviors while they were minors, gave detailed testimony throughout the trial without using their true names.

Jurors watched home films of Kelly performing sexual actions that the prosecution claimed were not voluntary alongside the witness testimony.
