Because of his outstanding performance at the Unicycling World Championships, 15-year-old Trey Haun has become a phenomenon on the internet.

The young man made Ghanaian history when he won a medal at the Unicycling World Championships, becoming the first ever Ghanaian to do so.

In the division for athletes aged 15 to 16 years old, he took home a silver and a bronze medal.

People were curious about how Trey Haun became a Ghanaian because he is of white boy, and his father William Haun responded to their inquiries on Twitter.


When Trey Haun was just one year old, his mother and father uprooted their family and traveled to Ghana.

Since then, he has spent more than half of his life residing in the Mamprusu village of Nalerigu, which is located in the North East Region of Ghana.

The images of Trey when he was younger, dressed in the traditional Mamprusu Batakari, have been shared online by Trey’s father.

He was performing alongside the traditional drummers and dancers of the Mamprusu tribe.
