Many people have been taken aback by a woman with the largest hand.
Each of this woman’s arms weighs 1.5 tons, prompting doctors to refer to her as having “the world’s largest hands.”
Duangjay Samaksamam, a Thai native, owns a small business in the Surin province.
Her limbs have been permanently enlarged as a result of a terrible and extremely rare disease she has had for over 50 years.
She complains that even simple tasks like walking cause her pain.
“Because my hands are so heavy, combing or washing my hair is extremely difficult”.
She also mentions how difficult and painful it is to get dressed.
The 59-year-old woman hid away for the first 20 years of her life because she was ashamed of her illness.
She avoided going to school at all costs because of her appearance.
She needed to come out of hiding and get back to work so she could support her family.
She inherited and managed the family grocery store as the eldest child.
Many surgeons from various countries attempted to operate on her to reduce the swelling.
However, none of them have been successful thus far.
“A few medical professionals advised me that the only way for me to move freely was to have my hands amputated”.
She does, however, explain that she is unwilling to act.
Duangjay was born with Lipomastosa, the medical term for the condition. She’s had several surgeries to try to fix the problem, but each one has made things worse.
Her illness remained incapacitating despite three procedures.
