On November 19, 2013, James Kwasi Appiah became Ghana’s most celebrated coach after leading the Black Stars to a playoff victory over Egypt in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Kwasi Appiah made history by becoming the first Ghanaian coach to qualify the Black Stars for the World Cup, setting the standard for all of his colleagues in the country.

Kwasi Appiah’s fame and glory, however, were short-lived, as his team finished the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil without winning a single game, disgracing Ghana in the process.

His second appearance following the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations also did not end well, as his team exited the 2019 continental competition in Egypt during the knockout phase, turning the public against him as it did in 2014.

Regardless of his failure to win the AFCON or make an impact at the World Cup, Kwasi Appiah deserves to be recognized for orchestrating Ghana’s third World Cup qualification.

To commemorate Kwasi Appiah’s birthday today, we shine a light on his family (wife and three daughters) in this episode of GhanaWeb features.

Kwasi Appiah is married to Angela, with whom he has been married for over three decades.

In an interview with Starr FM’s Betty Yawson in 2020, the former Black Stars coach revealed that he met his wife Angela while playing for Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.

“I met my wife through a friend who was by then playing for Kotoko. Me I can’t rap a girl oh. I had a friend who used to play for Kotoko. He is called Papa Arkoh, the captain of the team during my time.”

“Papa Arkoh’s wife introduced Angela to me and when she came, she was very beautiful and that’s how everything started,” Kwasi Appiah said in the interview.

Kwasi and Angela Appiah’s marriage resulted in three lovely daughters.

The first daughter, Puggy Appiah, is a carbon copy of her father, while the second daughter, Audrey Appiah, is a carbon copy of her mother, Angela.

The last child to be named is frequently praised on social media for her stunning beauty and curvy figure.

Puggy and Audrey live in the United Kingdom with their mother, while Mary is said to have moved to Ghana a few years ago.
