A wedding ceremony that was supposed to take place over the weekend turned into a melancholy affair as tragedy struck seconds before the celebration.
On Sunday, March 13, the groom, Mohammed Zakari, died in a car accident on his way to his wedding ceremony location.
According to police, the groom was driving a Ford Escape with the registration number AS 3222-21 with four of his friends.
Around 1:00 p.m., the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch at Fumesua on the Kumasi-Accra route.
The 40-year-old groom died on the scene, while the other four passengers were taken to KNUST Hospital for treatment.
One of the victims, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for further treatment.
When the bride received the news, she is believed to have experienced a terrible shock and collapsed into a coma.
Zakari was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.
