Sad News: 2 KNUST students confirmed dead after an explosion at Juaben Oil Mill
Two Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) students, who were both on a practical industrial attachment at the Juaben Oil Mills Limited, have been reported dead.
Three people died as a result of an explosion at the mill in Juaben, Ashanti Region.
The explosion happened on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, according to reports.
Six additional persons were injured in addition to the three that died.
Five of the six seriously injured people have been released, while the sixth is in critical condition and is being treated at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Emmanuel Honu-Broni, the Juaben District Police Commander, said one of the industrial boiler machines at the oil mills exploded at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, injuring nine people.
He estimated that the three people who perished had 80 to 100 percent burns. The reason of the explosion, according to DSP Honu-Broni, is still being investigated.
