PRESEC boy who was in the NSMQ team gets admission to 14 American universities

Prince Appiah Debrah Jr., a member of the Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) team that won the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) in 2021, has been accepted to 14 prominent universities in the United States of America.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford, UPenn, Columbia, Cornell, Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, the University of Michigan, and Ann Arbor are among the schools that have made offers.

The universities provided “substantial support” to the talented student who was regarded an anchor of his team.

Sources say Prince plans to study mathematics and computer science at the university, with a focus on algorithmic reasoning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interactions.

Prince, Jr. had his primary education at The Light Academy in Adenta, where he also served as the School Prefect.

In 2018, he received the second highest score in the Adenta district’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He continued his study in the Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School at Legon, where he was elected President of the Math & Science Club.

He was a member of the PRESEC squad that competed in the 2021 NSMQ and lost to Prempeh College in a nail-biter final in Kumasi.
