Popular Ukraine actor k!lled days after joining defense of country
Pasha Lee, a Ukraine actor who has appeared in both films and on television in the country, was reportedly killed by invading Russian forces in Irpin on Sunday.
Lee, also known as Pavlo Li and Pasha Li, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces last week as Russia’s invasion intensified.
According to Deadline via local Ukrainian news sources, the 33-year-old actor was killed on Sunday.
He was most recently seen in the 2021 TV drama and the 2019 comedy, as well as providing Ukrainian dubbing for films.
On Sunday, he made his last social media post on Instagram. According to a rough translation, he wrote in the post, “For the last 48 hours there is an opportunity to sit down and take a picture of how we are being bombed, and we are smiling because we will manage and everything will be UKRAINE WE ARE WORKING!!!”
According to the New York Times, Russian forces advancing on Kyiv on Sunday fired mortar shells at a bridge crossing the Irpin River.
The same bridge served as an evacuation route for civilians fleeing Irpin, and the shelling dispersed civilians and killed them.
At least 406 Ukrainian civilians have been confirmed killed since February 24, 2022, according to the United Nations.
According to the United Nations, the actual figure is expected to be much higher. An estimated 1.7 million Ukrainians have fled the country as a result of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion, which has been widely condemned by the international community.
