A 10-year-old girl was killed by a police officer on the Ntankoful-Anaji Highway, according to reports from Western Region.
According to 3News, the officer, known as Owusu, was pursuing the driver of an unregistered car when he accidentally killed a young kid who was hawking along the stretch of road.
Owusu was allegedly pursuing the driver of a suspected unlicensed vehicle in a private car when he lost control and crashed into a tipper truck.
He then veered off the lane, running into a 10-year-old girl who was hawking on the side of the road and immediately killing her.
According to witnesses at the scene of the crash, the 10-year-old girl’s body was left on the road while the police officer was taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the police chased driver managed to flee without being apprehended.
