According to reports, the explosion happened when a van bringing explosives from Kumasi to a nearby mining site burst.
A number of persons are believed to have died in the blast.
“The police and other emergency service providers have launched a full-fledged emergency recovery operation.
“We ask everyone to be calm as we deal with this tragic circumstance.
In a Facebook post, the police added, “Full details will be given in due course.”
