On the first day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, 137 soldiers were killed and 316 were injured.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at least 137 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 316 were injured on the first day of the Russian invasion on Thursday.

Russia’s military crossed into Ukraine from various directions on Thursday, only hours after President Vladimir Putin proclaimed the start of a special military operation.

Putin urged Ukrainian soldiers fighting in eastern Ukraine to lay down their guns and return home in a televised address on Thursday morning.

He warned Ukraine that any carnage will be blamed on it.

Russia’s Defense Ministry stated in a statement that its air operations on Ukraine were not intended at cities and posed no threat to people, but were purely aimed at destroying Ukraine’s military.

However, more than 100 deaths have been reported.
