Ahmed Twumasi, a police inspector, was responsible for the shooting and subsequent death of his girlfriend, Maadwoa.

Emmanuel Mawanye Kotin, the Executive Director of the African Center for Security and Counterterrorism, emphasized that many officers do not seek help for their mental health issues.
He stated that the stigma surrounding mental health in law enforcement is still prevalent and often prevents officers from seeking the help they need.
This can lead to a dangerous situation for both the officer and the public they serve. It is important for law enforcement agencies to prioritize mental health resources and support for their officers to prevent tragic incidents like the one involving Twumasi and Maadwoa.
Mr. Kotin believes that unless Twumasi had a mental breakdown, it is difficult to understand why he would commit such an act. Despite Twumasi’s claim that he killed his girlfriend for over GHc5,000, it is suggested that this was actually a result of his mental health struggles.
