Former Black Stars teammates Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah have remained friends even after leaving the senior national team.
Appiah, a former Black Stars captain, and Essien, who was once his deputy, have recently reunited. They got together to have some fun and eat some local food.
They went out to eat tuo zaafi (TZ) at a food joint that is similar to a ‘chop bar’ in Ghanaian parlance.
The two football stars were photographed dressed in black and seated behind a table.
Bowls of TZ with the usual green soup were placed in front of them. Previously, the two appeared to be very focused on dealing with the food.
Fiifi Tackie, the Ayew family’s spokesperson, and another man sat at the table with them.
Fiifi Tackie was the first to post the photos on social media. On Thursday, June 3, 2021, he posted them on his Twitter page.
Following Fiifi Tackie’s earlier post, Appiah and Essien’s photos have gone viral on social media.
Many blogs have been re-posting the photos on their pages. This has elicited a wide range of reactions from Ghanaians.
