New Details: KNUST lecturer in another trouble as he is linked to the disappearance of his wife, Rhodaline Amoah-Darko.
Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey, a famous lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was released by the Asokwa District Court in the Ashanti Region for his alleged role in the kidnapping of his wife, Rhodaline Amoah-Darko.
However, he was re-arrested after new charges were filed against him in the High Court.
This comes after the officer in charge of the case at the Attorney General’s Office informed the Asokwa District Court that the case had been transferred to the High Court due to the new charges.
The first hearing before the Kumasi High Court is planned for Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
According to the police charge sheet, Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey admitted to inventing his wife’s alleged kidnapping using her phone prior to the Attorney General’s office taking over the case.
Despite saying that he had relocated his wife to a location closer to Volta Lake to ensure her protection, he has been unable to inform the police of her whereabouts.
On November 16, 2021, the Kumasi High Court denied Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey’s bail application, citing new evidence linking him to his wife’s kidnapping.
BACKGROUND
Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey, a lecturer at KNUST, reported to the police on September 2, 2021 that his wife, Rhodaline Amoah-Darko, had been kidnapped from their residence near KNUST, after receiving text messages.
The incident was then investigated by the police. However, investigations revealed that the texts sent from Rhodaline’s phone to certain family members and acquaintances, including her husband, were sent from the KNUST campus, which is closer to the accused person’s house (the husband).
As a result, on October 6, 2021, Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey was arrested to assist with the inquiry.
According to the police, he admitted to sending those texts over his wife’s phone in his caution statement.
