After receiving a lifetime achievement award from the African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2021, actress Yvonne Jegede paid tribute to veteran and ailing actor Olu Jacob.
In a social media post, Yvonne expressed her sadness after seeing how frail and weak Olu appeared during the award presentation, as his wife, actress Joke Silver, provided all of his support.
She praised the actor for bestowing his talent on the Nigerian film industry, or Nollywood, and for paving the way for her and other stars of her generation.
“Watched this video with tears in my eyes. I want to give him his flowers while I still can: uncle Olu Jacobs, thank you for blessing us with your talent, for paving the way for me.”
“I honor you and appreciate you for the immense contribution you have made to Nollywood. Thank you, sir @_olujacobs.”
In Yvonne’s comment section, other Nollywood stars like Richard Mofe-Damijo, Omotola Jalade, Segun Arinze, and Kate Henshaw joined Olu Jacob in his joy.
