Actor Michael Afrane has blatantly stated that he does not recognize Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of Ghana despite the EC’s declaration as he claimed(without evidence) John Mahama won the just ended 2020 general elections.
Speaking in an interview on the Uncut show, Michael Afrane said there is no way he would congratulate Nana Addo on his win and stressed that the results the Jean Mensah led Electoral Commission declared on December 9th is not a true reflection of how Ghanaians voted – the results have been rigged.
“I will be the first to congratulate Akufo-Addo if he truly won. As it stands, I do not think he is the rightful winner of the December 7 election. Mahama won,” he told blogger Zionfelix in Twi.
The Kumawood actor used to be an NPP supporter and even at some point the Youth Organizer for the party at the Bantama constituency in the Ashanti Region but made a switch to the NDC and according to him, it was one of the smartest moves he has made.
He revealed in the course of the interview that he supported the NPP from 1992 when he was just 20 years old to 2016. According to him, he was born into the party because his father was a member of the UP (party) which is now known as NPP.
On why he decided to switch to the NDC, Michael Afrane answered that people especially the big wigs in the New Patriotic Party are ”selfish and won’t even mind you when you need their help”. The Kumawood actor referred to his time supporting the NPP as “wasted” and according to him, he wishes he joined the NDC in the first place.
“If I had known, I would have joined the NDC earlier. They show love to their supporters”, he said.
Ever since Michael Afrane switched from the NPP, he’s developed a haterade for the party which becomes worse by the hour. Recalling, the actor claimed in 2019 he will give up his acting career should the incumbent Nana Addo win the presidency.
