“My classmates call me ‘boygirl’ because i fix nails for women”- 15 years old boy shares his story

Oluwaseun Opaleke, a 15-year-old nail technician who also fixes eyelashes, has shared a little about himself.

The young man told BBC Pidgin that he is in SS1 and has mastered the art of fixing various types of nails for women, including powder nails, acrylic nails, glass nails, and so on.

The young man also said that he started working when he was 12 years old, but that he wasn’t as passionate about it then as he is today.

When asked how his friends react to his profession, he stated they mainly laugh at him and refer to him as a “Boygirl” because he does what most women do.

However, he stated that he is unconcerned about what they think because he is paid for his work, and that is all that counts to him.

He also claimed that he had paid his school expenses with money earned from his employment.

He further stated that he is willing to teach any of his colleagues who are interested in learning the art. Opaleke picked up the ability from his mother, who is also a hairdresser and a nail technician.

He goes to his mother’s shop on a regular basis, where he helps a variety of people. He further stated that the work does not interfere with his studies in any manner.

This is his passion, he says, and he’ll work hard to make it large.
