Mother takes his own biological son to court for stealing family properties

Tum Joseph, a 30-year-old Nigerian man found himself in court facing charges of stealing domestic and home items from his parent’s residence.

The accused was brought to court on Tuesday after his mother, Bridget, lodged a complaint against him. She revealed that she had been caring for her hospitalized husband when she discovered that her son had taken certain belongings from their home.

The charges brought against Joseph included three counts of criminal intimidation, causing a disturbance of the peace, and stealing. Bridget identified a mattress, two canisters of herbicide chemicals, ten yards of wrapping paper, and some of her husband’s clothing as the items that had gone missing.

However, Joseph pleaded not guilty to the accusations. In light of this plea, Justice Gwani, who presided over the case, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N20,000. Additionally, a surety was required to provide the same amount as bail, with the stipulation that the surety had to be Joseph’s uncle.

The court proceedings have been adjourned until September, at which point further deliberations will take place. Until then, Joseph will remain on bail, awaiting the continuation of his case.
