Hon Kwadwo Okyere Darko Mensah, Western Regional Minister, has responded to reports that his driver stole money from a “galamsey” scheme.
Gh One TV had already sent out a news story saying that the driver had made it to Ivory Coast while carrying the huge amount of GHS17 million.
“A Regional Minister collapses as his driver bolts with 17 million cedis galamsey proceeds. The driver is reported to be in Ivory Coast at the moment,” the news report read
Hon Kwadwo Okyere has provided a response to the news about the alleged involvement in “galamsey” that led to his driver fleeing with the money. He has called the media outlet’s bluff, saying that the coverage is harmful to his reputation.
He said that he is still committed to protecting the natural resources in his area and that he would not make money from galamsey or anything related to it.
Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah added that he would be ready to take on GhOne TV or EIB Network after talking to his lawyers. “In respect of the innuendo of the news alert, I shall take appropriate remedial steps under advisement from my lawyers.”
