Some military personnel have stripped an upcoming Ghanaian musician, Theo Versace, of his military fatigues.
In a video, army men are seen stripping the artist of his military uniform.
When they saw him in army fatigues, they surrounded the musician, who was standing by his car.
They then demanded that the musician remove his pants.
The musician then handed over his pants to the soldiers, got into his car, and drove away.
In a statement issued on Friday, 1 July 2022, the Ghana Armed Forces said it had begun a series of exercises to combat the illegal sale and use of military fatigues and accouterments.
It is the result of their continued unauthorized use by some individuals and institutions.
According to the GAF, “these acts create a sense of insecurity in the country and tarnish the image of the military”.
GAF said it would “not allow this situation to persist and will, henceforth, step up the arrests of these persons and deal with them drastically but in accordance with the due process of the law.”
