Finally. There is a new homosexual pair in town, and Ghanaians have been talking about them for a while. Ghanaians are debating because one of their own, Kwame Aboagye, is involved.
Being a gay is an outcast in Ghana since the majority of the community opposes the practice. Given the majority of Ghanaians’ beliefs, it’s odd that any Ghanaian would ever tolerate living in a homosexual marital family.
But in one of his popular videos, Kwame Aboagye could be heard proudly speaking Akan, as though he wanted Ghanaians to know he had done the unimaginable.
His looks, speech, and body language suggest a long-term gay family member. The marriage between him and his German husband, Mr. Schmidt, is now formal.
Kwame Aboagye, now Mrs. Schmidt, will do all the responsibilities of a woman in the house while Mr. Schmidt affirms the husband of the house. This is a fascinating moment, but Kwame Aboagye (Mrs. Schmidt) will have to cope with it for the remainder of their marriage.
We don’t know how Mr. Schmidt contacted Kwame Aboagye’s family, but most Ghanaian families would reject such a request.
Since Kwame Aboagye lives in Ghana, bringing his husband home or even presenting him to his extended family will be impossible. Gay marriage is legal in Germany, where his husband is from, but not in Ghana.
Even if Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt are happily married, the current situation in Ghana makes it difficult for Mrs. Schmidt to return home. It’s difficult for him because most Ghanaians dislike his decision.
Let Kwame Aboagye, now Mrs. Schmidt, enjoy his marriage in Germany until Ghana legally acknowledges it. And congrats to him and his new hubby
