Meet Joseph Matthew, the Ghanaian gospel musician who is not a Christian
Despite the fact that Ghanaian gospel artist Joseph Matthew lives in the United Kingdom, he does not practice Christianity.
He believes in Jesus Christ’s teachings, yet he prefers to be referred to as a “Child of God” rather than a Christian.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Matthew said, “I am not a Christian,” “I sing to glorify the name of God and Jesus Christ,” he added.
According to the artist, Jesus Christ did not refer to His followers as “Christians,” but rather as “disciples.”
Matthew did not use a citation from the Holy Bible to support his claim. In his own words, he defined who a Christian was:
“A Christian is a person who belongs to the Christian faith community,” he said to Andy Dosty.
He believes that the Christian faith does not accurately represent the Kingdom of God, but “whosoever believes in the Kingdom of God will be called a ‘Child of God.”
The gospel singer’s stance on Christianity has sparked considerable discussion on social media, with some fans agreeing with him and others chastising and labeling him “confused.”
In response to the latter, the singer stated, “I believe we live in an age seeking the truth.” We’re sick and tired of being told what to do. “Now that we have access to the texts, we can learn them for ourselves,” he noted.
“If you don’t understand what I’m saying, you can google it.” Don’t take it from me. “If I’m lying, the scriptures are there,” he pointed out.
Matthew, who was born into a Christian home, learned to play several musical instruments at a young age and sang in the church choir, which was led and directed by his father.
He moved on to perform in the church band, where he could hone his skills and discover his vocal abilities.
