Lucas Richard and his wife were supposed to be stationed in Grand Cape Mount County as missionaries.
He was still married to his American wife, but he went on to have a traditional marriage with Jessica in front of his wife, claiming she was old.
Young Jessica Lloyd, a Liberian girl, came dangerously close to death at the hands of her American husband, Lucas Richard.
According to Jessica’s mother, Lucas met Jessica at the mission where she was serving, and it was then that Lucas proposed to her and requested that she be his second wife, which he had already informed his wife about.
Jessica informed Lucas that she would have to inform her parents about his proposal before approving the relationship.
When Lucas discovered Jessica was pregnant for him, he injected her with medications and killed the unborn child.
Lucas paid Jessica a late-night visit on September 14, 2023, informing her that he was returning to America on a quick business trip and that he wanted both of them to go on a date at the nearby entertainment center for him to apologize for his conduct.
She notified her mother about what Lucas said and obtained her permission, unaware that Lucas had other plans.
Later, Jessica’s family learned that Lucas had attempted to kill her, but a tricycle rider saw him trying to sever her neck and save her. With the aid of others, the Liberian National Police was able to capture Lucas.
Jessica is now in the hospital receiving treatment, but the twist is that Jessica is still trying to protect Lucas and, as a result, is not providing the police with adequate information.
