Evans Kyekyeku Oppong, a Ghanaian businessman who was arrested for allegedly attempting to sacrifice his daughter for ritual purposes, has been granted bail in the amount of GH500,000 by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court.

In order to satisfy the bail application that was submitted on Wednesday, August 10 by Mr. Oppong’s legal team, which was directed by Ralph Agyepong, he was requested to provide two sureties, both of whom need to be justified.

In addition to hearing the bail application, Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh issued an order requiring the accused person to report to the investigator in charge of the investigation every Tuesday until the case has been completely resolved.

At the beginning of June, a video surfaced showing a 47-year-old man, who was a father to 12 children, waiting in the home of a purported herbalist to undergo a procedure in which he would offer two of his children to be slaughtered for money rituals in order to solve his financial difficulties.

The individual told the herbalist, named as Nana Adu-Boafo Jnr., that he was having trouble abroad, so he came to him and stated his willingness to do everything to get back on his feet. This information was included in a report filed with the police.

On the other hand, the herbalist informed the security agency, which in turn dispatched men to storm his compound in an effort to apprehend the culprit and save the victims.

During an interview with GTV, the suspect’s wife stated that her husband had contacted her on Tuesday – three days before the event – to inform her of his plans to take their daughter out.
