After discovering new love, he allegedly became wild and aggressive, and even elders were unable to “control” him as he disregarded traditional standards and married the woman as his second wife.
The wife, Vimbai Magora, was unable to cope with her husband’s aggressive behavior, causing her to seek legal assistance.
“We were married in 2008, and since 2011 my husband has been hostile because he has fallen in love with my mother,” Magora said in her application for a peace order. “He began to hit and humiliate me, threatening to kick me and my four children out of our marital home.”
She went on to say that even family elders were unable to address their situation since he refused to listen to their counsel and instead prolonged his contact with his mother-in-law, putting their marriage on the rocks.
Sande responded by confirming the allegations made against him, stating he loved the two ladies and wanted to spend the rest of his life with them.
“It is true that I am in love with her mother, but I still love my wife as well. Therefore, I would like to spend all my life with them,” said Sande.
Magistrate of Zvishavane, Shepherd Mjanja, issued a peace order and ordered Sande not to physically or emotionally assault his first wife.
