Majid Michel for the first time tells how he lost his voice through an accident – Video

Actor Majid Michel has finally shed light on the circumstances behind the loss of his voice for the very first time.

Although he claimed in a few interviews from the past that he lost his voice because he enjoyed arguing so much, his most recent interview demonstrates that there is more to the story than the explanations he offered in the past for why he lost his voice.

On Monday, February 20, 2023, he recalled the incident during an appearance on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM. He was driving away from the Champs Hotel in Accra at the time when his vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle.

Majid claimed that immediately after the occurrence, he began having breakdowns in his voice and that he has not fully recovered from that condition since that time.

“We were coming from Champs [Hotel], we just entered the road, from wona back some two cars dey race from GBC dey come. Some Mercedes E-Class den some other car. Dem Jee wona back bommm!!! Crazy whiplash so the whole axle under my car, came all the way to the back seat,” he narrated.

“This is the first time I am telling this story because number one, I never associate with this but listen, immediately we got down from the car, my voice started breaking when I was talking to the guy,” Majid added.

But, he did mention that when he told his physicians this tale, they informed him that it was impossible for it to have been caused by the accident.

“But I said right after that particular accident when I got down from the car when I was talking, my voice was breaking,” he further recounted.

The actor who appeared in ‘Crime to Christ’ said that a couple of months after the accident, he was flying, and when he arrived at the airport, he began speaking in falsetto because it was more comfortable speaking like way than having his voice waver between the low and high levels.

He claims that his low tone has not faded, but since it needs air to power the vocal cords, it looks like he does not receive enough air to let him talk.

“It feels like the air coming from my lungs finishes too quickly. So there is no air left,” he indicated.

When asked whether his vocal problem has harmed his acting career, he said yes, adding that as a consequence of his predicament, he doesn’t even take lengthy movie screenplays.

Majid Michel has directed films such as ‘Heart of Man,’ ‘Anywhere in Africa,’ ‘Crime to Christ,’ ‘4Play,’ and ‘Chelsea,’ among others.
