Lydia Forson Inspired My New Song ‘Effiakuma Love’ – Kofi Kinaata Reveals
Ghanaian rapper Kofi Kinaata recently shared the true inspiration behind his latest single, ‘Effiakuma Love’.
During an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Asaase Radio, Kinaata revealed that the song was actually inspired by a tweet from Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson.
According to Kinaata, it all started when Forson began a conversation on Twitter about Fante love and how Fante women are skilled at multitasking when it comes to education and taking care of the home.
People began to wonder why no Ghanaian musician had focused on Fante’s love, and Kinaata was tagged in the conversation multiple times. Although this conversation took place in either 2018 or 2019, Kinaata initially ignored it.
However, a few years later in 2023, Kinaata found himself unconsciously walking into the studio to create something.
That something turned out to be ‘Effiakuma Love’, his latest single. So, thanks to Lydia Forson’s tweet and the persistence of his fans, Kinaata was inspired to create a song that celebrates Fante’s love.
“The Fante women theme would have limited the song, so I decided to go with an African lady, ” he said in the interview.
