Late Rev Anthony Boakye’s Wife places injunction on his corpse in court – Video
The late Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye’s funeral has been placed under embargo by his wife, Obaa Yaa Asantewaa, following an injunction from a court.
Prior to his passing on February 21, 2023, Reverend Boakye, the leader of Resurrection Power New Generation Church, had accused his wife and family of denying him medical care after suffering a stroke.
Controversies surrounding the couple emerged, including CCTV footage showing Obaa Yaa slapping a church elder during a dispute over offertory.
During a press conference held by the family, one of Rev. Boakye’s nieces hinted that his wife may be responsible for his death, but was abruptly interrupted when she appeared to become possessed by the holy spirit and was swiftly escorted away by other family members.
Mrs Boakye, the wife of the late preacher, has been banned from attending her husband’s funeral and performing any widowhood rites.
This decision was taken after she failed to appear before Otumfour Osei Tutu’s Ankobiahene, who had invited her for a meeting to settle their differences.
The meeting was meant to take place before the preacher could be laid to rest. However, Mrs Boakye did not show up and did not provide any explanation for her absence, leading to the Ankobiahene’s decision to ban her.
As a result of the ongoing family disputes, the court has placed an injunction on the preacher’s remains, preventing any family member from claiming the body or proceeding with the burial until all issues are legally resolved.
