Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital suspends 16 staff over extortion of money from patients
The management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi has taken substantial steps to protect the health profession’s code of conduct.
Sixteen (16) hospital employees have been suspended for violating the hospital’s code of conduct, which includes charges of extorting money from patients. As a result of their conduct, one hospital employee has been fired.
Prof. Otchere Addai Mensah, Chief Executive of the Hospital, revealed these measures during the hospital’s mid-year performance assessment in Kumasi.
He underlined the importance of maintaining high professional standards in order to provide patients with a favorable experience at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
In the first half of 2023, 16 staff employees were sanctioned for various violations of the hospital’s disciplinary policy. These consequences include dismissals, warnings, and unpaid suspensions.
These efforts are part of the hospital’s commitment to maintaining professional integrity and providing patients with good services.
The hospital’s management has implemented modifications to staff motivation packages in order to improve staff motivation. These measures include a general rise in line manager compensation as well as a 25% increase in the medical package offered to employees and their families.
The administration thinks that these interventions will motivate employees to provide extraordinary service and meet patients’ expectations for high-quality clinical care.
Prof. Addai Mensah praised the hospital staff for their outstanding performance over the first six months of the year, particularly when compared to the same period the previous year (2022).
This encouraging development illustrates the hospital’s commitment to continual improvement and the provision of high-quality healthcare services.
