Komfo Anokye Hospital bans social media as nurses use working hours for TikTok
During contact hours, the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi has outlawed the use of social media for its staff.
The hospital said that this measure was taken to prevent the rising tendency of nurses to spend more time on TikTok and other social media sites.
The KATH management had seen how many patients were being ignored while the bulk of nurses were distracted by their phones.
The lives of patients who visit the institution, which serves as a referral hospital, cannot be jeopardized, according to the hospital’s CEO, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah.
He said that the hospital’s “[IT] system to YouTube and other social media platforms has been blocked to prevent staff from potentially losing concentration on patient care through such platforms.”
The CEO addressed department and division leaders during the hospital’s end-of-year performance appraisal meeting in Kumasi.
