Kojo Oppong Nkrumah speaks on ‘LGBTQI+ colors’ at Jubilee House
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ghana’s Information Minister, has urged Ghanaians to ignore reports that the Jubilee House was covered in LGBTQI+ colors to greet US Vice President Kamala Harris.
He believes it is completely false and contains no reality.
To set the record right, he stated that the colors emitted by the lighting were a mix of Ghanaian and American colors, not the crazy theories floating around.
“It seems some people are always more interested in things that pull the nation down. I have seen such things on social media and want to say it is not true.
“The ISD website which aims at combating misinformation on Monday published that there is always a national lighting moment when world leaders travel to countries,” he said on Accra-based Okay FM.
The Ofoase-Ayirebi MP stated that the illumination was done in the same way that the Burj Khalifa in Dubai was illuminated up in Ghana colors during President Akufo-Addo’s tour to the country.
On Sunday night, social media was flooded with critiques and accusations after the two banners placed side by side mirrored the rainbow colors with which the LGBTQ+ community associates.
There were differing views on whether the entire incident was an effort to spread homosexuality in Ghana.
Mr Nkrumah, on the other hand, has encouraged Ghanaians to concentrate on things that will advance Ghana forward, rather than inconsequential issues or disinformation.
