The Law Faculty at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has issued a warning to law students who have failed to follow the faculty’s dress code.
In a notice signed by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ernest Owusu-Dapaa, and obtained by our news team, the faculty reminds students of its dress code and cautions them to refrain from wearing clothing that will bring the image of the legal profession into disrepute.
The publication of the notice has encouraged faculty lecturers to dismiss students who defy the order.
“It has come to the attention of management that some students do not adhere to the Faculty’s Dress Code.” All students must dress in accordance with the Faculty’s Dress Code.
Please keep in mind that white means white.
Students are therefore advised to dress appropriately and refrain from wearing miniskirts (above the knee), sleeveless tops, lace tops, or any other attire that may bring the image of the legal profession into disrepute.
“All lecturers are encouraged to dismiss students who do not comply with the above from class,” according to the statement.
This is not the first time Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has addressed this issue.
It should be noted that the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Professor Abednego F.O. Amartey, expressed a similar concern, prompting the University of Professional Studies to prohibit the wearing of miniskirts and other seductive dresses on campus.
Prior to the Vice-address, the University’s authorities had already warned students who wore skimpy and short dresses on campus that they were violating university rules, which do not appear to be followed by the students, particularly females.
