Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as Kwame A Plus believes Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong is the greatest option for the ruling NPP’s presidential candidate.
The Ghanaian singer and political activist, thinks that if Mr Agyapong takes over from President Nana Akuffo Addo, the party would be able to break the 8.
In an interview with Kofi TV, he urged the President not to meddle in the electoral process, to guarantee a free and fair election, and to show no support for any candidate.
He also discussed the prospects of the front-line candidates, including Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyeremanten, and Mahamadu Bawumia.
He said that the Vice-President had had his fair piece of the cake and should make way for a fresh generation of party leaders.
He hailed Ken Agyapong as the finest candidate for the party, citing his financial acumen and agility, as well as his honesty, charity, and truthfulness.
“Kennedy Agyapong’s ability to employ seven thousand, 7,158 and tremendous support for party activities makes him stand tall above the competition. It is imperative on Kennedy to intensify his campaign and tell Ghanaians who he is, and what he can do to better the life of ordinary Ghanaian,” he stated.
“I urge him to beware of rigging, but if such matters occur he will advise that Kennedy establishes a political party to face the NPP in the general election. On the other hand, he must accept defeat when he genuinely loses the election,” he added.
Kwame A Plus further said that Northern NPP workers and supporters should reject the concept that the time for northern people in the party has arrived.
In his opinion, as long as a person fits the party’s constitutional requirements, every individual in the party has the same right to contest any post in the party without regard to tribal considerations.
“Should there be any such instance as the northerners must be given the nod, it is key to note that the party has largely been good to the Northern caucus. For instance, giving them the automatic occupation of a running mate position, which is a position people from other regions in the party have not ever benefited,” he added.
He pointed out that the Central, Western, and Western North Regions had never profited from such a post, much alone a presidential candidate for the party.
He said that the political apparatus of the opposition NDC, which is focused on advocating steady stream propaganda against NPP would not give a good outcome.
