Everyone has a backstory, and Ghanaian actress Kisa Gbekle’s narrative from her childhood in the Volta Region has surprised many.
Kisa Gbekle has spoken about how struggles in her town pushed her to sleep with men in exchange for money or favors in order to feed her family.
In an interview with Delay, Kisa said that she comes from an impoverished family and that she and her siblings had to wait for their daily meal before they could eat it.
Kisa had to suffer in the Volta Region as the youngest of four children before moving to Accra in search of brighter pastures.
Despite her disapproval, she was forced to sleep with men on occasion for favors or her family would go hungry.
The actress revealed she first destroyed her virginity when she was 15 years old when she was describing how she became a prostitute. Because she was raped by an 18-year-old male, her actions resulted in a police investigation.
According to her, the boy was arrested, but the issue was eventually dropped by the police and resolved between the two parents at home.
In order to pursue her goal of being an actress, Kisa traveled to Accra and enrolled in a film school.
She later worked as a secretary at Venus Film Production, and the rest is history.
Kisa also stated in the same interview that, despite her celebrity, she is still in the ashawo business, which is why she underwent surgery to make her figure more voluptuous.
