Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, is filled with optimism as he sets his sights on winning the flagbearership race in the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Regardless of the circumstances, he firmly believes that he will emerge victorious when the polls close.

In a tweet celebrating the start of July, Agyapong boldly declared, “I am going to win the NPP presidential race.” This statement showcases his unwavering confidence and determination to secure the party’s nomination.

However, Agyapong is not alone in his quest for the NPP flagbearership. He faces tough competition from nine other individuals who also harbor aspirations to lead the governing party. These include Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade and Industry Minister John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, and new entrant, Assin Central’s own MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

The list continues with other notable contenders such as former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto, former Minister of Energy Boakye Agyarko, former Minister for Railway Development Joe Ghartey, and former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong. Additionally, former MP for Mampong Francis Addai Nimoh, Senior Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Eric Sakyi Nketiah, and former MP for Offinso North constituency and Minister for Regional Cooperation and NEPAD Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku are also vying for the position.

To streamline the selection process, a special electoral college voting will take place in August. This voting will aim to reduce the number of contestants to five, enabling party members to choose their flagbearer on November 4, 2023.

Despite the fierce competition, Kennedy Agyapong remains resolute in his belief that he will emerge victorious. His dedication and determination are evident in his words and actions, demonstrating his commitment to becoming the NPP flagbearer.

In conclusion, Kennedy Agyapong’s optimism and confidence in winning the NPP flagbearership race shine through. With a strong lineup of contenders, the upcoming electoral college voting will be a crucial milestone in the selection process. As the race continues, Agyapong’s unwavering determination sets him apart, making him a formidable candidate worthy of consideration.
