Famous Ghanaian Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, a private legal practitioner, has pledged to leave Ghana if former President John Dramani Mahama wins the 2024 presidential elections.
He noted what Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, could accomplish as president between 2012 and 2016, and he decided that he would not submit to his rule once more.
On Monday, September 10, 2023, attorney Ampaw made this statement during an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM. He also added that he would prefer to live in neighboring Togo than to once again be under Mahama’s rule.
“I would go to Togo rather than allow Mahama to rule over me for the second time.” Mark it on the wall, I’m telling you. I’d flee the country.
“If Mahama wins, I will move to Togo for four years.” “What is Mahama up to in government again?” He inquired in Twi.
Ampaw stated that he does not want Mahama to be president again since he can only serve for four years and has previously stated that four years is insufficient to transform the country.
He claimed that Mahama will utilize his second coming to rob the state in order to pay off his massive debts from political campaigns since 2016.
“Mahama himself stated that four years are insufficient for doing good for the country; so, what is he coming to do?” He understands that Ghana’s current challenges cannot be solved in four years.
“He is also deeply in debt.” He has not paid the money he spent on the 2016 campaign or the money he spent on the 2020 elections, according to the lawyer.
