Actress Nana Ama McBrown has said that she went bankrupt during a time when she was ignored by Kumawood movie producers. This period of time occurred during her career in Kumawood.
During an interview on Pure 95.7fm with Dave Hammer, the legendary actress said that in the early 2000s, just as her career was ready to take off, she unexpectedly started to create enemies.
Nana Ama McBrown related that influential individuals in Kumawood began to neglect her and stopped casting her in any of the successful movies. She also reported that this behavior continued for some time.
According to what Nana Ama Mcbrown has related, in 2006 or 2007, she was badly struggling financially until the host she was chatting to, Dave Hammer, handed her several endorsement deals to sign. At that point, she was able to turn her financial situation around.
It took some time, but eventually the conflict she was having with the big dogs in the film industry was resolved, and it wasn’t until after that point that she started obtaining movie assignments again.
When asked why she had departed Kumawood, Nana Ama McBrown refused to go into details but did confirm that there was some kind of internal bickering going on within the organization.
Agya Koo and Kwaku Manu are two other Kumawood stars who, like Nana Ama McBrown, have been victimized by an unfair fate. Nana Ama McBrown is not the only Kumawood star to have endured this.
According to Agya Koo and Kwaku Manu, certain producers do not like it when stars advance in terms of charging them based on their worth; as a result, they all come to an agreement to push them to the sidelines.
