“I was sacked from school several times because of school fees, I dropped out due to financial difficulties”- DSP Kofi Sarpong
Chief Superintendent Kofi Sarpong, a Ghanaian gospel singer and police officer, has told his grass to grace narrative, explaining how he had to drop out of school on several occasions owing to non-payment of fees.
His police father, he claims, was relocated from Berekum, where he was born and raised. On the suggestion of his grandmother, his mother chose not to accompany his father to the new place.
He was taken into custody by his mother, who did not have enough money to care for him and his siblings as a result of that choice.
As a result, Kofi Sarpong said that he was beaten and thrown out of the classroom for not paying his fees.
Kofi Sarpong, a fine Ghanaian gospel performer, remarked in an interview on Adom TV that his early life was challenging, rocky, and usually hard, but he just had to rely on God’s grace and providence to get to where he is now.

He stated the following:
“I am from Berekum and spent the majority of my life there, but my father was a police officer and was frequently transferred, so we had to relocate. My grandmother, on the other hand, eventually stopped my mother from relocating because she was fed up. My father also left and did not return until I was about to write my O’level exam.”
“I was terrified of lashes, but the situation was that we went to school every Monday morning and I received lashes for non-payment of fees.” I couldn’t take it anymore and had to quit three times along the way.”
“I had always wanted to be a teacher since I was a kid, and it was that desire that drove me to sell kenkey and soup to pay my way through school.”
“My mother assisted in the purchase of maize for the business. So I’ll make the soup at night and the kenkey in the morning, which I’ll sell before going to school,”
