“I was once a footballer”- Kofi Kinaata reveals what made him stop playing football to become a musician.

Kofi Kinaata, a multi-award-winning Ghanaian highlife musician, has disclosed his artistic inspiration, stating that his mother mentored him.


According to the singer, as a child, he was a natural vocalist and a natural football player, and his mother hoped that he pursue a career as either a musician or a footballer.

Kinaaata claimed in an interview with Joy Entertainment that when he was six or seven years old, his mother encouraged him to pick between being a musician and a footballer.

“I’m happy because my mum told me when I was six or seven years old that she wanted me to sing or play football since I was such a great football player,” he stated.


To summarize, Kofi Kinaata is largely considered one of the most prolific vocalists in modern highlife music. He is well renowned for his Fante raps and freestyles, for which he has been dubbed the “Fante rap God.”
