“I was earning Ghc 1500 in Ghana as a teacher, but now i earn over Ghc 9000 teaching english in Vietnam”- Lady reveals (video)
Mercy Agyei Ankomah works as an English instructor in Vietnam . Her monthly income is around $3,000. In Ghana, though, she took home GH1,500.
Mercy mentioned this in an interview with SVTV Africa. Despite receiving a large sum of money, she is not paid on time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“A better salary this time. Before the pandemic, black teachers took $600. After the pandemic, they took $1,200 each time. But when the pandemic hit, the white teachers left the school. So I take $1300 now. Then, other people get $1200 to $3000, too.”
“The problem is that we had to go home in February because there was a party. So I don’t have anything I can trust. We’re in March, and it’s the same thing “she revealed,
The former Juaben Senior High School teacher seemed to have led a happy life in Ghana. Because of some “sweet” words from certain travel agencies, she decided to travel.
She admitted that she struggled to get around when she initially arrived in Vietnam in 2019.
Mercy advised Ghanaians not to travel to Vietnam since there are no career opportunities there other than teaching English. Despite all of this, Miss Ankomah stated that she had no plans to return to Ghana.
