Blessed Godsbrain Yirenkyire Smart, also known as Captain Smart, a broadcaster, has stated that he was detained 189 times under Mills and Mahama’s presidency.
The Onua TV host and his coworker Gh Bwoy were arrested a few days ago for allegedly extorting money from a businessman in order to delete a story about him.
His detention generated outrage on social media, especially when his outfit was unable to locate him after leaving him in the care of National Security the day before.
Following the exposé on the bad and dirty dealings the government and its personnel have been involved in, netizens fear there is a conspiracy by the Akufo-Addo-led government to silence him.
Speaking after his release from prison, he disclosed that he had been arrested 189 times and is not afraid to go to the police station or get detained.
According to him, all of his arrests occurred because he spoke out against the government, so his most recent arrest and detention is nothing new.
He said: “I was arrested my Mills-Mahama 189 times. Even under my own father J.A Kufour, I was arrested, you remember?”
He explained that the viral video of him sleeping in police cells was normal because he was tired and didn’t mind sleeping wherever he pleased.
